  • OUR HOME GYM REVEAL

Why Do We Need a Home Gym?

Working out in the comfort of your own home is becoming increasingly popular. Not only does it help eliminate travel time to and from the gym, but it can also save you money in gym membership fees. But creating an effective home gym can be a daunting task. In this blog post, we’ll look at how to set up an affordable and efficient home gym that will help you get the most out of your workouts.

At the end of 2019 Michael and I made the decision to invest more in ourselves. We had just taken the biggest risk of our lives the previous year to go all in on our brand and quickly watched our self care routine dwindle to nearly nothing as we put everything into the brand. The best first step for us was daily exercise, something we’ve both been passionate about since we were kids. Yet, it seems to be the first thing we let go of.

Since owning the business full time, early mornings and late nights meant that we weren’t making time to get to the gym every day. So we cancelled our memberships and created a home gym. And are we so glad we did. With the pandemic hitting the world swiftly exercise and gym access has become more of a necessity than ever. With the timing ever so right we are excited to share what was once our kids playroom, and is now our home gym!

The overall goal in the space was to have a calm and relaxing, yet motivational environment. New paint, trim and flooring was a must. I landed on Alabaster for the walls and ceiling and accessible beige for the finished moldings. We carried the Anew Gentling engineered hardwood floors from LIFECORE Flooring throughout our entire first floor, and in the gym repurposed our mid-century modern floating shelves Michael had built and we had to take down since we took out that wall during the kitchen remodel

    Peloton Home Gym

The shelves were the last element to be added, yet are the perfect addition to the room providing us with a place to house plants! I wanted the room to give me life and what better way to do that than with live plants. Feeling like you might not be a living plant person, try these plants first. They are a lot harder to kill! I think even you might be able to keep them alive! And although it is rare, we sometimes have leftover water in our bottles and are able to feed them after a hard workout!

    Peloton Home Gym

When it’s came to wall art we knew we needed something, but didn’t want to go overboard. And we’re not really the “mirrored walls” type, so that wasn’t an option. We were looking for words that would motivate us and inspire us to go harder everyday, and what better way to say that than through these words…‘do epic shit’! Thanks to Feather and Birch we’re able to look at these words every day, and sometimes they push us to go just a few steps further!

    Peloton Home Gym

Clearly we are Peloton people! We have both the Bike and Tread. We can not say enough how much we love the Peloton experience. When it comes to design, of course they are top notch in every way. But for us it is all about the community. The design of the Bike and Tread certainly piqued our interest, but it was the community of instructors and athletes that really made the investment an easy decision. Everyday we gather with these people and sweat, smile, laugh and sometimes cry…and together we grow stronger and more confident.

    Peloton Home Gym

While Peloton equipment is a significant investment, they’ve created a digital app only platform that allows anyone with equipment (or just their bodies and a will to be better) an opportunity. Just download the app and pick a class…that is all it takes to get started. If you are looking to invest in yourself, and are able to invest in either the Bike of Tread we would love to share the Peloton experience with you too! Use the code 2EBVW7 to get $100 off your purchase!

  • OUR HOME OFFICE REVEAL

Here it is. The space I never thought we would actually reveal, Our Home Office! This has been a work in progress over the past year and half at least. Which is a hard reality to swallow when we remodel for a living. Guess that’s what happens when we put client projects before our own. Needless to say I am very excited to FINALLY share with you our home office.

Before we go any further let’s take a walk down memory lane.

Here’s what our office looked like when we bought the house.

    To now….

modern custom home office wallpaper ceiling

Talk about major improvements, in one little space. We’ve partnered with Sherwin Williams to bring you all the paint happiness here! We both like to look at this as two spaces: the mudroom and office! Both of which are functional spaces to keep our family organized while allowing Michael and myself to dive into work while in the comfort of our own home.

    MUDROOM

Our mudroom is completely custom. We worked together to make it as functional and purposeful for our family as possible. Starting with 4 large cubbies with soft close shaker style doors. I knew I no longer wanted to see my kids backpacks, coats and collection of things they manage to gather daily inside their cubbies. I also wanted to make sure that the doors were placed properly so we never needed to worry about them slamming into each other when opened, since we have two young boys in and out of the house often. We used these 12 inch Sommerville Drawer Pull in aged brass on each door. The bottom shaker style drawers are used for mittens, gloves, hats and snow pants in the winter and summer fun during the summer months. The upper cubbies feature additional storage for those things needed less often. And yes, they too are finished with shaker doors as well. We used the Sommerville Cabinet Knobs in aged brass here and the entire mudroom build was sprayed in Sherwin Williams’ Tricorn Black. To make this piece a little different and add some depth we finished the base with red oak finished in a satin polyurethane and mounted the uppers to the base and wall.

    OFFICE

Hello custom walnut desk! We wanted our desk to center the room. The best way to do this was to build one custom for the space. Michael is keen on having minimal clutter in our office and the Gather Basic set from Ugmonk allows for just that with a modular system for organization. We fell in love with these modern tufted chairs with gunmetal arms which are comfortable, functional and sexy! We absolutely love the color, which shines brighter with our round Lambert light from Hudson Valley centered above the desk. Under the desk we added Loloi Silvia from the Justina Blanekey Collection complementing our LIFECORE Anew Genteling Oak floors perfectly.

Michael built and installed custom built-ins completely wrapping two perimeter walls and finished them in Sherwin Williams Rosemary Satin! We wanted to make sure we had storage for all of our growing book collection and everyday items we need while working. When it came to styling these shelves I went in a really simple direction. I removed all of the book covers and separated books based on color. I then layered in books across the shelving. It really makes sense too, as we’re always removing the covers when we read hardcover books…so this eliminates that and the look and feel of the bindings are perfect.

modern custom home office wallpaper ceiling

The back wall is an art gallery in progress as Michael and I love to collect art from travels and artists. We’re fortunate to have some extremely talented artists we get to call friends, including Adrian O. Walker who shot our favorite piece titled “Breathe”. To finish the walls we added a few wall sconces for additional ambiance.

We found our office doors on Facebook Marketplace from an old building in downtown Detroit. Our original hope was to refinish them by sanding them down and staining them. But through the process we quickly realized the stain was not going to provide us with the look and feel we wanted to achieve. For that reason we decided to paint them, choosing Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black to match the other doors in our home. We replaced the glass so we could actually see through it as the original glass had so many scratches. I think Michael might have gone crazy if we left it! We then added Emtek satin brass modern hardware to the french doors.

So there you have it. 3 iterations and a year and a half later, our Home Office is finally complete.

  • FINAL REVEAL FALL 2020 ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

It’s here and on time this season! Our Fall 2020 One Room Challenge final reveal! We’ve had a great time bringing you along for the ride as if you were our client. Week 1 we gave you an idea of what the space looks like. Week 2 we broke down our space planning and rendering phase. Week 3 was all about design while week 4 we brought you into the build out phase which includes everyone’s favorite around here…demo day. Last week we chatted about styling a space which leaves us here to week 6, the final reveal!

If you’re finding us for the first time from the One Room Challenge, welcome! We’re Danielle and Michael Gutelli and together we’re Clark + Aldine, a design-to-build collective in Plymouth, MI.

Clark + Aldine is named after the Chicago streets where we first met, and was born out of a love for purposeful design and everyday functionality. What we didn’t know then was that our passion and design influence would continue to grow, and we would soon leave our established careers to pursue Clark + Aldine full time. But like they say, when you know, you know! Learn more about us.

Let’s get into everyone’s favorite part: the before and afters!!!!

    Remember where we started?

    BEFORE

Here you have it one tiny vanity lacking storage and space.

    AFTER

Welcome to our new and improved 48 inch vanity with a built in medicine cabinet for all the extra storage! Knowing this bathroom is small and lacking in any natural light we wanted to brighten up the space with all the extra lighting.

These Harlow 3 bulb sconces did just that and kicked up the glam factor to a whole new level! We paired it with a porcelain concrete looking countertop and a brilliance polished nickel Litze Faucet from Brizo. We had the vanity custom made with a Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black paint finish. The drawers have Schaub and Company matte black and satin brass 4 inch pulls while the doors have 2 inch long bar cabinet knobs. We love the look and feel of contrasting hardware.

By this point you can see our love for mixing metals together. Not sure you can do it yourself? Don’t sweat it we are here for you with a post about how to mix metals in your bathroom and your kitchen!

    Shower

To the left of the vanity we started with this tiny little shower!

We didn’t want you to forget we relocated the laundry room which was directly behind the shower. We then finished off the hallway to make the shower larger and created a new functioning laundry room all while we wrapped up this beauty…more on those projects soon!

Now we have one stunning shower space with a custom niche to fill the entire back wall! The shower door is a gridscape with black frame.

Inside the shower we did a herringbone fixture wall with black satin ceramic tile and black grout. All fixtures are in brilliance polished nickel from Brizo.

The floors and walls are done in Iconic White Porcelain from The Tile Shop in 18×36. The goal here was to create a slab like look without the slab pricing! To achieve this we pre-planned where all tile would lay and used 16th inch grout lines.

    Bathtub

Now let’s not forget about the bathtub! Here’s where we started. This sad guy needed some serious help.

We welcome you to what just might be our favorite part of this space! The Orion Glass Crystal Chandelier brings the entire space together. We like to think it’s inviting you in for a relaxing evening.

As always we are so glad you’ve joined us on this journey. Until the next one make sure to follow along on our Instagram page to get a full behind the scenes of exactly what is happening in all of our spaces and how we work with real life clients to make their Pinterest dreams into their reality.

  • FALL 2020 ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 4

Welcome back to week 4 of the One Room Challenge. This season we are bringing you along for the ride as if you’re our client. Week 1 we gave you an idea of what the space looks like. Week 2 we broke down our space planning and rendering phase. And last week was all about design. This week we are ready to bring you into the build out phase which includes everyone’s favorite around here…demo day.

    Let’s get into it!

    DEMO

It’s demo day. Sometimes we do demo while our clients are home and/or staying in the homes and other times we do it when they are gone. I bet you can guess what we prefer! Regardless of that scenario we always make sure to prep the space so all of the existing structure and furniture is protected. We pride ourselves in running and operating a clean jobsite so that our clients always feel like their home is still their home, even when we have spaces torn apart.

Every project looks a little different from a demo perspective, but this particular project is pretty common for us. This full bathroom is getting a full remodel from top to bottom. Everything is going to be brand new and the shower will be expanded, stealing space currently occupied by the laundry room (which is relocating to a separate section of the home). That means all flooring, fixtures, drywall, shower walls, jacuzzi tub, toilet and lighting is coming out. It is a big job but one that we can knock out in a day no problem.

We start by removing all of the larger fixtures – vanity, toilet and tub. Then we move on to the shower, light fixtures, accessories such as towel bars, and the drywall. Once all of that is out and cleaned up we start on the floor. Most bathrooms have tile floors which will require a hammer drill and demo bar (a very large crowbar) to break it up. Demanding how it was laid the tile can come up easily, or be a timely job that is stressful on your body. This one was the latter…and it was rough.

The last thing we do during demo is make sure that any nails/screws/staples are removed from the floor and studs, any glue is scraped off and everything is vacuum thoroughly. Once this is all done we’re ready to move on to the rough-in stage.

    ROUGH-IN

Coming in after demo day requires a good night sleep, especially if you had to discard all of the refuse from the demo in a dumpster off site, which is what we do. A little coffee doesn’t hurt either!

Rough in is a very strategic process for us. While some of the heavy lifting can be done in space and elevation plans, you always need to triple check where all components are being placed. The first thing we do is measure the open space once everything is ripped out. This project called for framing to be done for the larger shower space which is where we started. Once the new shower walls and custom niche were in place, we had to relocate the drain and run all of the new plumbing for the shower, vanity and soaker tub. Fortunately for us the basement is not finished so we had easy access to the existing drain and water lines.

Electrical was limited on this project, but it is always something we pay close attention to. The prior layout had one wall mounted fixture above the mirror, and we were replacing that with two wall mounted lights on either side of a large medicine cabinet and mirror. We found our center by measuring where the vanity footprint would be off of the exterior shower wall, followed by the center of the toilet and exterior of the soaker tub. Precision is key here, as there is no room for error – a ¼ inch off is noticeable to us and we won’t stand for it.

    FINISH WORK

With all of the rough in completed and approved via inspectors (if the job calls for it) we move on to the finish work. This particular job consisted of first installing the new soaker tub followed by drywall installation (install, tape, mud and sand), primer and paint and tiling. The tile on this job was a HUGE project as it is a large space with varying tiles and patterns. What would typically be a 3 day process was 6 days due to the intricacy of it.

This process is long and tedious, but there isn’t much to it. It just has to be spot on or it won’t be right.

    INSTALLATION

Ok now it is time for the magic to happen! It is install day, which is just as exciting as demo day…but it is not actually a day. Most often this is a 2 – 5 day process, again depending on the scope of the job. But since this gives away the full look and feel of the space…you’ll have to wait until the reveal!

For this full bathroom remodel we had a lot of components to install. Starting with the shower we had the trim kit and shower head, as well as a hand held head and a custom shower door to install. From there we moved on to the vanity and faucet, wall mounted sconces and medicine cabinet. Then we moved on to the bidet toilet, finishing with the soaking tub components. This one was tough as it has a warm air pump that we located under the tub in the basement on a custom shelf we fabricated This allowed our client to have full access to the pump, and allowed us to fully secure the tub skirt in place.

This is also the stage where touch ups and imperfections are caught and touched up. All silicone, grout caulk and finish caulk work is completed, and installation of any accessories is done as well. We always have a walk through with our clients to ensure items such as robe hooks and towel bars are at the most convenient height and location for their use.

That was a long one but we think that gives a solid idea of the process. Next week we will bring you into the styling phase of the process. Until then make sure to follow along on our Instagram page to get a full behind the scenes of exactly what is happening in the space and how we work with real life clients to make their Pinterest dreams into their reality.

  • FALL 2020 ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 3

Here we are at the halfway point and we’ve yet to really show you any demo or project progress. That is because all these important details need to happen before we can ever break ground on a client project. Each project we take on is always broken down into 4 steps:

    Space Planning and Rendering

    Design, Sourcing and Purchasing

    Build Out

    Styling

Week 1 we gave you an idea of what the space looks like. Last week we broke down our space planning and rendering phase. And this week is all about design!!!

    Concept Board + Client Review

    What is a Concept Board?

A concept board is the best way to ensure we are capturing exactly what our clients are envisioning their future space to become. We use our client’s Pinterest board to help guide our team to what they are gravitating towards. From there, we narrow down images + introduce new images to best represent concepts of where we can take their space. This is going to set the groundwork for their dream space!

What happens in the client review?

We work with our clients to schedule a time to review their Concept Board, Space Plans and Renderings. This is where we will present the best concepts for their space based on their Pinterest input! We will give clients feedback on what we are thinking about for their space and ask any detailed questions we need to move the design process forward. We will also present to them our Space Plans and Renderings for their space with two options to work with. We leave this meeting excited about the project and hopefully sign off to move forward.

Estimated Timeframe to Complete: 2-6 weeks (allowing for scheduling conflicts, potential revisions and additions, and the scale of the project)

    Mood Board

    What is a Mood Board?

We will take client feedback from our Concept Review to pull together actual items that we recommend for their space! We will provide different mood board options to select from, but please keep in mind we are building these mood boards off their direct feedback, budget and overall vibe always in mind.

What will happen in the client review?

We review our recommendations and provide insight as to why we’ve selected items for their space. This is where they can provide feedback and ultimately land on a decision. We will make final changes to the Mood Board based on feedback and send a confirmation email for approval to move forward on purchasing.

Estimated Timeframe to Complete: 2-3 weeks (allowing for scheduling conflicts, potential revisions and additions, and the scale of the project)

    Purchasing + Next Steps:

When we select items we do our best to pick items that will be shipped in an appropriate time frame. Due to COVID-19 we have experienced unexpected delays which can shift the overall project timeline. Once all products are delivered and inspected to ensure quality we can set up an actual start date for our build team to get in and start a project.

Estimated Timeframe to Complete: 2-16 weeks (all depending on the product considering anything custom made requires a significantly longer timeframe)

Wow talk about a lot of moving pieces before we ever break ground right! Now can you see why we haven’t even shown you the demo or build out of the project yet? Here’s our moodboard to get your brain going with what you’re about to see next week. Get ready because this space is about to blow your mind!

Till then make sure to follow along on our Instagram page to get a full behind the scenes of exactly what is happening in the space and how we work with real life clients to make their Pinterest dreams into their reality.

  • DIY KIDS DESK BUILD FOR HOMESCHOOLING

So, how is the whole transition back to school going?

Thought so. Even though our boys are both going back to in person schooling, albeit a hybrid half day model, we’re still keeping their desks for virtual school at home setup and intact. There are just too many unknowns at this point, and desks are still incredibly hard to come by!

With the holiday season coming up we know everyone is looking forward to cozy nights with the family, but the cozy days crammed at the kitchen table or single office desk need to come to an end. So we decided to create a DIY kids desk build tutorial for you to build simple desks for your home schooling needs.

    What You Will Need

    How To Make Simple Desks

Once you have all of your materials it is time to go to work.

    1. First, decide what side of your stain grade panel will be the top. We preferred the side with the least amount of knots, if any at all, for the top. Once determined, flip over for your bottom.
    2. Next you must determine the proper height for your desk. For a kids desk you may want to make it a bit shorter to accommodate your child’s size, but we went with a more standard height of 28”. It works with the chairs we have.
    3. To build your legs you will need to create 2 sets, each of which will form a rectangle shape. We took the width of our panel and subtracted 4 inches (2 per side) to create the top and bottom leg boards. Since our panel was 20 inches total, we made the tops and bottoms of each leg 16 inches.
    4. Next, we determined the desired height of our desk, which was 28”. Since the thickness of the top panel was 1” we cut our vertical leg pieces at 27”.
    5. Determine the above measurements for your desk legs and create 4 of each, per desk. We made 2 desks therefore needed 8 pieces in each size.
    6. Now it is time to construct the legs. There are two methods to doing so: the first, by pre-drilling your screw holes on the outside of the vertical pieces to connect the horizontal pieces. The second would be to pre-drill pocket holes on the horizontal pieces. The benefit to using pocket holes is you can hide the screws completely.
    7. If you are going to pre-drill on the outside of the legs we recommend using 1” or 2” construction screws. If pocket hole construction is your jam, you can use 1” pocket hole screws. There is no right or wrong answer.
    8. Construct your legs. If you want to paint your legs now would be the time to do so!
    9. Once your legs are made you want to flip your top panel over to expose the underside. From there you want to measure in 1” from each short side and one long side of your choosing – these will be the guides for attaching the legs. You can use your speed square to mark a distinct line, which will help you with placement.
    10. Using 1” cabinet screws, attached each leg to the panel. We used 4 screws per leg.
    11. Once you have both legs attached you’ll want to cut a piece for your cross brace. Measure from the ends of each leg to get a full length and cut a piece of pine board.
    12. Mark a line at 6” from the bottom of each leg – this is where you will place the bottom of your cross brace. Using your 1” cabinet screws attach the cross brace to your legs.
    13. Flip over your desk and repeat steps for any additional desks you may construct.
    14. If you desire, you can stain or seal the panel with polyurethane before it sees any use.
    15. Place into your desired space and let the learning continue.

    DIY kids desk build

We hope you enjoyed this very quick DIY project and are able to add this purposeful and functional element into your home.

  • FALL 2020 ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 2

Well it has been quite a week. Here we are  writing this post at the absolute last minute to get it up in time for it to count for week 2. Not typical in Clark + Aldine fashion at all. But this week we lost our first baby girl, Jade. She was a 15.5 year old boxer pit mix who has been with us since before babies throughout the city of Chicago, lived in 5 different homes with us in 3 different cities, welcomed home two babies and been by our side through countless adventures. Including the start of Clark + Aldine. Needless to say it’s been a challenging week. However, with all the sadness we have felt an overwhelming response of support and community here. We truly thank you and we are looking forward to the next adventure life brings us on.

Now that you’ve got the background as to why this post came so late let’s dive into week 2 of the ORC. This year we are going to bring you with us on this 6 week process as if you were a client of ours. So before we get started let’s make sure you are all caught up on the project we are tackling…check out week 1.

Each project we take on is always broken down into 4 steps: Space Planning and Rendering, Design, Build out and Styling. Last week we gave you an idea of what the space looks like. We are going to be completely gutting and transforming into a true master bathroom. This week we are going to dive into just what space planning and rendering looks like for our team.

With any project we take on it always starts with an in-home or virtual consultation. This gives us a chance to meet one on one with a client, get to know each other and get a really good sense of their space. During our hour long consultation we are able to provide our expert advice and guidance about the project(s) and from there we set up a plan for best next steps.

During this phase our team comes out and does detailed measurements of the space(s) we are going to be transforming. From there we are then able to create our client’s space into the digital world (thank you Chief Architect Software). As with any space plan we always start with our “As Built” drawings by dropping in exactly what the space looks like before we even begin to work on it.

From there we make changes. We typically like to provide 1-2 options for layouts based on the space. With this particular bathroom we landed on 1 really solid option and moved forward on that.

Once we’ve landed on a space plan we are ready to move forward into the design phase of the project. This is where all the decision making happens. We love bringing clients with us to figure out just what their own brand is and how we are going to make their home reflect that! Hang out with us next week while we bring you with us through the design process for this master bathroom.

Until then don’t forget to check out all the other AMAZING guest participants and of course the incredible featured designers!

  • DIY HAIRPIN LEG TABLE BUILD

Hairpin Leg Table Are Sturdy And Stylish

If you’re reading this in 2020, or perhaps in later years and recall what it was like to buy anything remotely essential during COVID, then you’ll likely find this post useful. Or maybe you won’t, but we really hope you do. In any case we’re excited to show you how to make some really stunning pieces of furniture for your home or office using 3 materials.

First, you will need to purchase Teak Project Panels and Hairpin Legs. The panels come in a larger rectangular option perfect for desks and console tables, a mid-size square ideal for an end table or coffee table and a round option that best suits an end table or plant stand. The hairpin legs come in 2 different sizes to elevate your item to desk height and a smaller option for the coffee table height.

DIY how to build a hairpin leg table

    Tools You Will Need

    • Pencil
    • Tape Measure
    • Speed Square
    • Drill or Impact Driver
    • 1” screws (cabinet screws are ideal)

How To Make a Table with Teak Project Panels and Hairpin Legs

First you want to decide on the type of table you want to build. For us, we were looking for a console table for our entryway and a really unique plant stand because, well, plants. We love all the plants. So we went with a 1” x 16” x 36” teak panel and 28” hairpin legs for our console table and a 1” x 15” circle teak panel with 16” hairpin legs for our plant stand.Once you decide on the type of table you want to build, it’s time to get to it.

DIY how to build a hairpin leg table
    1. Start by determining what side of your teak panel will be the top, then flip it over on a flat service to expose the bottom up. This is where all of your work will occur.
    2. Measure 1⁄2” in on both sides of each corner and make a mark. Then take your speed square and connect the lines so you have a corner “L” marked. This is a guide for where to place your hairpin legs. (When working with a circular table you want to make your first mark at 1⁄2” and create a triangle on the underside of the table top in order to place all 3 legs.)
    3. Place the outer edges of the legs against the lines you marked. They will sit tight while you prepare for the next step, so long as you are on a flat surface.
    4. Grab your drill or impact driver and a 1” cabinet screw. Choose which hole to place your first screw and begin doing so while holding the leg tight in place against those line marks. Continue with securing the remaining 3 screws.
    5. Repeat above step for the remaining 3 legs
    6. Flip over the table, admire its beauty and place it in the most desirable place of yourhome.
    7. Style and enjoy.

We hope you enjoyed this very quick DIY project and are able to add a little quick beauty to your home.

  • FALL 2020 ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 1

It’s hard to believe we are already back here, another ORC. Anyone else feel like we just finished the Spring 2020 ORC?!? We are geeked to bring you with us on another 6 week journey as we transform a space for a client. Over the next 6 weeks we are going to take you with us on the process of how we work together with clients to create the spaces of their dreams in some truly incredible ways.

This is going to be our 6th One Room Challenge and our second time sharing a client space with you. We are geeked to take you through the process but want to make sure you get to know us a little better before we get real personal over here. Check out all of our previous ORC reveals.

    Spring 2017 – Master Bedroom

This Fall we are transforming a client master bathroom, moving a laundry room to enlarge the overall footprint of the bathroom and completely gut the space to bring it back to the true glory a master bathroom should be. The space will be complete with a soaker tub, walk in shower, plenty of storage and of course a chandelier!

Before we get any further into this project let’s take a look at exactly what we are working with.

    Before Images

Here we have the incredibly dated soaker tub compete with jets and drywall work!

Hello 24 inch vanity with little to no room to get ready and the compete lack of storage.

Uuuummm…yep this is the shower. Need we say more.

Now that you can really get an idea of where we are starting we can show you our plans to transform. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s to come.

Make sure to follow along on our Instagram page to get a full behind the scenes of exactly what is happening in the space and how we work with real life clients to make their Pinterest dreams into their reality.

  • RESET BRAIN + BODY PROJECT

We are beyond excited to bring you our very first commercial project, and one that truly makes you feel the comfort of your own home. This one seems so fitting as the owners of Reset Brain + Body are also the owners of Auburn + Dayton, our very first project EVER!!!

The overall goal of this project was to create a calming retreat for clients to not only feel relaxed but have the ability to open and reset both their brain and their body!

Let’s check out some killer before and afters…they tell quite the story!

    Reception Area

    Before Reception Area

    After Reception Area

We started working on this space well before COVID hit the states, and as the pandemic quickly spread throughout the US our overall space planning and development of this project changed as well. We developed a waiting area which allows for social distancing while still creating a comfortable environment.

Throughout the space live greenery and natural wood tones were used to provide a warm feeling.

The reception desk is customized with our “slat design” to add extra depth.

From there we layed in textiles, keeping the Reset Brain + Body brand identity in mind throughout every element of design.

    Kitchenette

    Before Kitchenette

    After Kitchenette

Having an open kitchenette created a challenge to the overall design of the space. As we worked through design plans and layout we landed on keeping the kitchenette open as we found this to be an added bonus to the already welcoming reception area.

All existing cabinets were replaced with navy blue cabinets to keep on brand. We built a custom floating shelf with a simple white subway tile backsplash.

Adjacent to the kitchenette we turned a utility closet into a coffee/water/tea/hot chocolate station! Over here we carried the same tile and added an additional floating shelf.

    Bathroom

    Before Bathroom

    After Bathroom

This custom ADA bathroom was created to feel comfortable and spacious for all guests. We used faux grasscloth wallpaper to elevate the room with texture and warmth. The wooded mirror paired with the black sconces help give the bathroom an overall well rounded feel.

    Offices

As we moved into each office space we looked to create a cohesive vibe between the rooms while still allowing each individual space to have it’s own personality. We wanted clients to feel comfortable and be able to experience the offices.
