It’s here and on time this season! Our Fall 2020 One Room Challenge final reveal! We’ve had a great time bringing you along for the ride as if you were our client. Week 1 we gave you an idea of what the space looks like. Week 2 we broke down our space planning and rendering phase. Week 3 was all about design while week 4 we brought you into the build out phase which includes everyone’s favorite around here…demo day. Last week we chatted about styling a space which leaves us here to week 6, the final reveal!
If you’re finding us for the first time from the One Room Challenge, welcome! We’re Danielle and Michael Gutelli and together we’re Clark + Aldine, a design-to-build collective in Plymouth, MI.
Clark + Aldine is named after the Chicago streets where we first met, and was born out of a love for purposeful design and everyday functionality. What we didn’t know then was that our passion and design influence would continue to grow, and we would soon leave our established careers to pursue Clark + Aldine full time. Let’s get into everyone’s favorite part: the before and afters!!!!
Remember where we started?
Here you have it one tiny vanity lacking storage and space.
Welcome to our new and improved 48 inch vanity with a built in medicine cabinet for all the extra storage! Knowing this bathroom is small and lacking in any natural light we wanted to brighten up the space with all the extra lighting.
These Harlow 3 bulb sconces did just that and kicked up the glam factor to a whole new level! We paired it with a porcelain concrete looking countertop and a brilliance polished nickel Litze Faucet from Brizo. We had the vanity custom made with a Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black paint finish. The drawers have Schaub and Company matte black and satin brass 4 inch pulls while the doors have 2 inch long bar cabinet knobs. We love the look and feel of contrasting hardware.

Shower
To the left of the vanity we started with this tiny little shower!
We didn’t want you to forget we relocated the laundry room which was directly behind the shower. We then finished off the hallway to make the shower larger and created a new functioning laundry room all while we wrapped up this beauty…more on those projects soon!
Now we have one stunning shower space with a custom niche to fill the entire back wall! The shower door is a gridscape with black frame.
Inside the shower we did a herringbone fixture wall with black satin ceramic tile and black grout. All fixtures are in brilliance polished nickel from Brizo.
The floors and walls are done in Iconic White Porcelain from The Tile Shop in 18×36. The goal here was to create a slab like look without the slab pricing! To achieve this we pre-planned where all tile would lay and used 16th inch grout lines.
Bathtub
Now let’s not forget about the bathtub! Here’s where we started. This sad guy needed some serious help.
We welcome you to what just might be our favorite part of this space! The Orion Glass Crystal Chandelier brings the entire space together. We like to think it’s inviting you in for a relaxing evening.
